Doug has spent the past 20 years in the media, entertainment and technology industries as a successful entrepreneur, investor, advisor and operating executive.

He has worked closely with numerous pioneering digital media/tech startups including Bigfix (acquired by IBM), Clairvoyante (acquired by Samsung), Coremetrics (acquired by IBM), Glu Mobile (IPO), Liberate (IPO), Pandora (IPO), Panopticon (acquired by Broadbase), Rightsflow (acquired by Google), and TIVO (IPO).

Doug co-founded Selby Ventures in 2000 and focuses on seed and early stage investments in digital media, Internet and mobile. Doug was an original venture investor in Pandora Media, now the largest global internet radio service with over 125 million registered users. Pandora continues to be one of the top 5 mobile apps of all times. Other notable investments include 4INFO (mobile ad platform), Bigfix (software/service), Clairvoyante (mobile display), Coremetrics (web analytics), and Panopticon (ecommerce personalization ). Doug was also an early advisor to Glu (early mobile gaming IPO) and Rightsflow (music rights management acquired by Google).

Doug began his career producing concerts as a student at UC Berkeley before heading to Hollywood where he developed popular TV gameshows including "Win, Lose or Draw" and "The Joker's Wild." Doug joined Electronic Arts (EA) in the early 90’s as a development executive where he produced over a dozen titles for the Company (and co-founded EA Kids). Following EA, Doug became Senior VP/GM of Turner New Media, managing the division’s interactive businesses including Cartoon Network online which became the leading kid's website with over 1 million monthly users. Doug left Turner in 1997 to become President/Services of Internet TV startup, Navio (later Liberate), which went public for over $1 billion.

More recently, Doug has been providing venture style finance to indie artists, songwriters, and publishers. He is also an investor in pledgemusic, a music-focused crowd funding platform, and Music180, a professional network for the music industry.

Doug received his B.S. from U.C. Berkeley and an MBA from Harvard University. Doug is married with 4 children and enjoys music, skiing, mountain biking, and spending time with his family. He's also a passionate supporter and advisor to Grameen Foundation (www.gfusao.org), a leading micro-finance organization who’s founder, Professor Muhammad Yunus, won the Nobel Peace Prize in 2008.
